Get Ahead
How to Prepare for Your Tattoo Appointment
Let’s make this your best tattoo experience yet by following these crucial steps the day of your appointment.
Eat a good meal beforehand, especially if you have a long session. Stay hydrated.
Wear clothing that allows full access to your tattoo area, I have placement specific clothing suggestions here.
Bring stuff to make yourself comfortable. For example headphones, a waterbottle, a small blanket, and snacks or a lunch for longer appointments.
Be mindful of your personal hygiene and the intimate nature of tattooing. Please arrive to your appointment showered and free of heavy fragrances.
True tattoo preparation begins before the day of your appointment. Here are some tips to consider leading up to your new tattoo.
Always avoid heavy alcohol consumption the day before and the day of your new tattoo.
Avoid sun exposure the week before your appointment and apply sunscreen if out in the sun. I cannot tattoo you if you’re sunburnt in your tattoo area.
If you plan to pay in cash, make sure to stop at an ATM before your appointment.
Buy your aftercare products in advance, that way once you get your new tattoo you can just sit back and relax. My aftercare instructions are listed here so you can get ahead.
Light exfoliating the night before can smooth your skin and help with ink application during your appointment.
These are my personal tattoo preparation tips for myself and my clients, but these will help you feel prepared for any tattoo session!
