What to Wear
How to Dress For Your Tattoo Appointment
Picking the perfect outfit for your tattoo appointment can be challenging depending on the placement. That’s why I made this placement specific clothing guide for you!
It’s very important that the full tattoo area can be easily accessed so that I can work effectively. A good rule of thumb is to wear comfortable or loose fitting clothing that you aren’t worried about staining with tattoo ink. Bonus if you wear neutral matching colors (like all grey, all brown, or all black) because it will look good in photos.
Shoulders, Collarbones, Chest, and Upper Back
For these placements, choose a tanktop or strapless top. Be aware that lowcut chest tattoos may require sternum access that these tops don’t allow.

Sternum and Mid to Full Back
For these placements, choose a button up shirt or a zip up sweater with an easily removable bra. I will provide you with nipple covers for extra coverage. These tops are great because they can be worn backwards.

Stomach and Lower Back
You can’t go wrong with a button up or zip up shirt for these placements, but a large oversized t-shirt works as well.

Hips
One of the most challenging areas to access while tattooing, luckily there are multiple clothing options to choose from. My favorite option is a beach sarong, or a long loose flowy skirt with a slit up the side. Most people own a tie-string-bikini, so that’s a safe bet too. If you wear a skirt or dress, remember to wear a loose stretchy thong underneath.

Arms and Legs
These placements are the most straight forward to dress for. Wether you choose a tank top, t-shirt, dress, skirt, shorts, or pants; just make sure your tattoo placement area is easily accessible!

Feet
This placement is easy, just make sure to arrive with clean feet and wear a pair of slip-on shoes if you can.
